In March of 2021 in my material science course, I worked on a website with my peer, Sascha Fowler, to research collagen, elastin, and their applications in organ tissue engineering. It is not novel research but rather synthesis, made for a somewhat lay audience. We put all of our research together into one website, which can be seen here!

Above: left: Collagen bundles (dark blue) and possibly elastin (light blue), in images of the recently discovered organ known as the interstitium, a protective/shock-absorbing layer under the dermis and surrounding many organs, right: Elastin fibers (black) among collagen bundles (pink) inside the interstitium, a connective tissue. (Thiese & Carr-Locke 2018).
